PRIZES
There are 9 judging categories. First, second, and third place winners will be selected in each category.
Prizes are:
First prize ($100) for an individual or $40 per group member.
Second Prize ($50) for an individual or $30 per group member.
Third Prize ($25) for an individual or $20 per group member.
Prize vouchers will be distributed by the college president at 3pm on Event Day and winners will be contacted by students in the Business Office when their checks are ready.

POSTERS CAN ALSO QUALIFY FOR:
The F. Allan Hofmann Prize for Ingenuity
Funded by Showcase Director Prof. Holly Bailey-Hofmann to honor her grandfather, this prize will be awarded for one poster which is particularly ingenious in conception or design. $100- Individual Poster $30/per group member for a Group Poster F. Allan Hofmann used his U.S. Army Signal Corps training and engineering know-how to invent several machines groundbreaking in medical research. The most important of these was the cineflouroscope, developed for the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dentistry, to allow doctors to see the inside of the cleft palate. |
ASO PRIZE
Three prizes to outstanding posters by paid ASO members which demonstrate resourcefulness and creativity. If you are a paid ASO member, or if you become one by May 10, you will qualify for one of the three ASO Poster Showcase Prizes for an outstanding poster which demonstrates resourcefulness and creativity. First prize=$200 Second Prize=$100 Third Prize=$50 In order to become an ASO member, go to the Business Office, 2nd floor of SSB, and pay $7 for the ASO membership fee. You are then entitled to ASO services such as free Scantrons, pens, folders, discounted printing and faxing on campus, and use of the exclusive ASO study lounge, among other benefits. The Marcial T. Simpson Prize for Imagining Possibilities
This prize honors Prof. Fran Leonard’ s father and will be awarded for one poster which imagines possibilities and gives meaning to Einstein’s words, “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” $100 – Individual Poster $30/per group member for a Group Poster Marcial T. Simpson joined the U.S. Navy after being spirited to a U.S. submarine while fighting in the guerilla forces in the Philippines during World War II. After the war, he earned his B.A. in finance at New York University and worked for NASA’s Ames Research Center. His boundless curiosity and love of learning infused all that he did. |
